Martin House Brewing, Co.

martinhouse

It is with great pleasure that we, a brand new racing team, can say we have a local brewery sponsoring our team!  The boys at Martin House Brewing, Co., locatd in Ft. Worth, TX, have only been in business for a short time, first releasing the Imperial Texan – Double Red Ale and the Day Break.  The Red Ale is a heavy-duty 8% abv red ale with a profusion of hop flavor and aroma, and the Day Break an inviting, 5% abv ale that we call a 4-grain breakfast beer.

They also have the Original Pretzel Stout and a Texas Saison.  If you’re at an upcoming race, stop by the Bearded Women Racing tent and we’ll offer you a private taste!  *While supplies last; must be 21 years or older.  Join their newsletter here, take a brewery tour, or find their beer here!

Martin House Brewing Company is a team of brewers, explorers, and dreamers.  We avoid tradition in favor of adventure, both in brewing and in life.  We value good ingredients and good people, and each of our beers pairs perfectly with life’s memorable moments.  We want to be the handcrafted beer you and your friends choose when celebrating your most recent adventure or planning the next one.  Martin House – Made in Texas by Texans.

What is your first memory of riding a bicycle? as a kid in East Dallas. I was the nerd who rode his bike to school.
Why do you ride a bicycle? I’m still a nerd.

Beard Head

beardheadOne of our most fun sponsors, we’ve already delighted in wearing these unique garments in early Texas spring and now during the heat of the summer.  We don’t care, you dig?  Get your Beard Head on!beardhead_01

The Beard Head was first conceived on the snowy mountaintops of Lake Tahoe on a ski trip in 2006.  In 2007, Beard Head, Inc. was born!

Beard Head knit beard caps combine the comfort and warmth of a traditional knit cap with the amazing styling of having a massive beard and moustache growing on your face! What person could pass up the incredible opportunity to sport his or her very own beard! We know we couldn’t!  They are perfect for skiers, snowboarders, sports fans and people who enjoy all types of outdoor activities!

The unique design of the Beard Head allows your entire face to remain warm, even in the harshest weather. Your chin, cheeks and upper lips will thank you as the Beard Head keeps them toasty warm!

It’s a GO!
Let’s make this the best trail day ever! Racers you need your pay dirt, so come on.

With the help of our lovely Elva Esparza and her love for DORBA, Progressive Insurance wants to help DORBA out at one of our trails. 🙂

Progressive will have 20+ helpers with us and will be providing lunch (food and drinks) for all volunteers.

Please come join hands with Progressive in helping our trails be that much more awesome. Bring gloves and any loppers or trimmers that you might have, eye protection and dress appropriately (you might want to wear light long sleeves or pants for the overgrowth scrapes)
We will be trimming back the spring growth to keep the trail safe and enjoyable for all.

ALSO-there will be a fun ride from 2-4pm, the Progressive crew has been encouraged to bring bikes and helmets to be introduced into the fun that is mt biking 🙂 RSVP Here!

Smurf Boy – Rowlett Creek Preserve, June 29, 2013

The first race of what was supposed to be a 4 race endurance series, but after a rain out Rowlett Creek Preserve proved to be a fast and nimble course.  We secured a prime spot next to the transition and area, and mingled early on with the other teams.  Lights are needed with these races, which is always a bit of extra fun added! The team registered 3 pairings in the Team Open category.  All successfully completed the race, without much incident.  A mechanical slowdown Kyle and Randy, but overall it was a good training race for the final two left in the series.  The next race will be July 13th at River Legacy Park in Arlington, TX.

Here are the results from the race:

Prayer Mountain Pedal, May 1, 2013

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

There are races that everyone gets really excited about, and know they’re going to go really, really fast.  The Prayer Mountain Pedal, is NOT that race.  This is a grueling, climbing course in the escarpments of southwest Dallas County overlooking the rest of the state to the west.  It’s truly the one place in all of North Texas where you feel a bit like you’re in the Hill Country of Central Texas.

The fellas that raced definitely made their marks and performed really well!  We took another 5th place overall in Cat 2 SS from Brandon Schrader, and ratcheted up the Cat 3 division to gain some racing credibility.  Also, we met two new guys we invited on the team, Randy Davis and Braden Barnett.

Here are the results from the race:

  • Category 2, SS (single speed)
    • Brandon Schrader, 5th Place, 1:37:05
  • Category 2, 20 – 29
  • Category 3, 30 -39
  • Category 3, 40 – 49
    • Keith McDonald, 15th Place, 0:51:24
  • Category 3, 50 – 99
