Smurf Boy – Rowlett Creek Preserve, June 29, 2013

The first race of what was supposed to be a 4 race endurance series, but after a rain out Rowlett Creek Preserve proved to be a fast and nimble course.  We secured a prime spot next to the transition and area, and mingled early on with the other teams.  Lights are needed with these races, which is always a bit of extra fun added! The team registered 3 pairings in the Team Open category.  All successfully completed the race, without much incident.  A mechanical slowdown Kyle and Randy, but overall it was a good training race for the final two left in the series.  The next race will be July 13th at River Legacy Park in Arlington, TX.

Here are the results from the race:

Prayer Mountain Pedal, May 1, 2013

There are races that everyone gets really excited about, and know they’re going to go really, really fast.  The Prayer Mountain Pedal, is NOT that race.  This is a grueling, climbing course in the escarpments of southwest Dallas County overlooking the rest of the state to the west.  It’s truly the one place in all of North Texas where you feel a bit like you’re in the Hill Country of Central Texas.

The fellas that raced definitely made their marks and performed really well!  We took another 5th place overall in Cat 2 SS from Brandon Schrader, and ratcheted up the Cat 3 division to gain some racing credibility.  Also, we met two new guys we invited on the team, Randy Davis and Braden Barnett.

Here are the results from the race:

  • Category 2, SS (single speed)
    • Brandon Schrader, 5th Place, 1:37:05
  • Category 2, 20 – 29
  • Category 3, 30 -39
  • Category 3, 40 – 49
    • Keith McDonald, 15th Place, 0:51:24
  • Category 3, 50 – 99

Solovaca Cat Claw Classic, April 7, 2013

This annual race is quite a drive from the DFW area, but well worth the effort!  The single track is mostly limestone rock mixed with some gnarly climbing and fun, fast downhills.  The first official race of the inaugural season with our new Bearded Women logo.bwr_logoa team canopy tent provided by palservand a bike rack provided by prismelectricHere are the team results for the race:
