List past racing accomplishments in any sport you’ve competed in I competed in my first mountain bike race last year. I finished 5th in the Clydesdale group, but I had a blast overall.
I have also been power lifting since high school. I hold numerous records in Texas and have received numerous invitations to national competitions.
What is your first memory of riding a bicycle?
Honestly, I remember learning the power of brakes. I was 11-years-old with no riding experience. I ended up doing an endo, busting my bike up, and walking it home. Luckily, I’ve gotten a tad better.
Why do you ride a bicycle?
I started for weight loss. At my heaviest, I weighed 464 pounds. Now, I’m hovering around 290-295 pounds. My end goal is to be in the 240s. I still ride to aid in my weight loss, but I also ride to spend time with family and friends.
What does Bearded Women mean to you? A group of individuals that share a common interest, with the goal of promoting riding and a team atmosphere while giving back to the community.

What is your first memory of riding a bicycle?
I remember wanting to be just like my brother and trying to copy his “mad” BMX skills on my purple Huffy.
Why do you ride a bicycle?
Well, the truth is my husband talked me into getting a mountain bike. I thought he was crazy and I really didn’t like it at first (mostly because my husband’s choice of trails for a first-timer). I decided to give it another chance this year and I’ve learned that I’m not all that bad. I also have met a lot of really neat people. What’s better than being decent at something you love and getting to hang out with cool cyclists?
What does Bearded Women mean to you?
A fun, supportive team of people who will, hopefully, push me to become a better rider.

Endurance racing is new to me this year.  The past two years I had shown up and supported the Big Pigs fundraiser six hour race in Tyler, Tx but never actually pushed myself.  It wasn’t until 24 Hours in the Canyon that I put everything I had into a race and at that point everything changed.  Next came racing 3 out of 4 of the Smurf Boy’s which still pushing myself learning more and more about actual bike setup and positioning but with all of that said the most important thing is the goals that I have for next year.
What is your first memory of riding a bicycle?
Camping with the family and taking my Huffy down hill on a jeep road and putting full trust into her. As a kid the adrenaline rush that I received at that moment has never left me.
Why do you ride a bicycle?
I ride bicycles for two reasons.  First, I have a addictive personality and with mountain biking being a healthy bad habit it keeps me out of trouble for the most part. Second, its all about the people and doing things that isn’t the norm.
What does Bearded Women mean to you?
For the past year I have watched and abserved what Bearded Women Racing  was about.  Which with a name Bearded Women who wouldn’t.  So is it a race team? Yes … Is it a bunch of dudes/dudettes racing with negativity? No … Its a group of amazing people all after the same goal which to me is to lift each other up to make everyone even those that aren’t on their team the best that they could be.  And as a young team that I see growing and going places I just knew that I had to be apart of it.

I participated in the smurf boy summer series. I ranked 2nd overall for the series in my age category.
What is your first memory of riding a bicycle?
Riding with my brother Matthew, around the age of 10 or so. We use to ride every wooded area in Columbia, Missouri. I can remember jumping over creek beds on our bikes. The smell of honeysuckle always takes me there.
Why do you ride a bicycle?
The freedom. The smell. The sun. The wind. The heat. The trails. I enjoy the comradery with other riders as well as being comfortable with myself to ride alone. The memories of riding as a kid are with me every time I ride.  Overall, I ride because I feel completely free on a bike.
What does Bearded Women mean to you?
Honestly, I don’t really know yet. I do know that Bearded Women is a group of riders with a shared interest in riding and racing. They also have awesome looking riding attire! I look forward to knowing what it means to be a part of the Bearded Women in the near future.

List and describe your bicycles I have one bicycle today, that being a Giant Talon, 29’er……..  Love riding the wheels off this thing.  My other bike is a Harley, and don’t think it qualifies……
List past racing accomplishments in any sport you’ve competed in
This was my first year, on a mountain bike, thusly, have been getting my feet wet, arms scraped, knees and legs, banged up, but steadily improving my skill set.
What is your first memory of riding a bicycle? My first bicycle, was a gift as a 6 or 7 year old.  Only thing I remember, was being the wrench that I was at the time, took my front wheel off, played with the bearings, and reassembled.  Took it down a long hill, one street over, did a wheelie, and then realized I had not tightened the axle nuts.  I was then catapulted over the handlebars, as the forks stabbed the pavement, landing on my chin.  I then ran screaming down the street, bleeding profusely, from said chin.  A neighbor heard me, tossed me in his car, and drove me to my grandparents house, and grandpa proceeded to take my to the hospital.  7 stitches later, my first ER visit, stitches, massive bandage, kinda shocked my parents, as they came to get me, that night…..Then it began….
Why do you ride a bicycle?
I decided to start riding a bike again, because I wanted to get back in shape, play outside, and stay out of traffic.  I know, ROUND IS a shape, but I wanted a ‘different’ shape, again.
It has awoken the kid in this old guy, and am having a blast doing it.
What does Bearded Women mean to you?
I know I’ve only been around you folks, once or twice.  My connection to you, is James Henson.  We used to do Boy Scout stuff, a long time ago.
I did help out at the last RCP Race, and hung with you guys, and you seem to have a blast, ride, and welcome others.  James asked if I’d be interested, and at that time, with my skills/ competence, was uncertain of my abilities to contribute to the team.  BUT, would like to support your efforts, hang out, ride, play, and maybe I can be a contribution to the team, down the trail.
Thanks for the opportunity……

List past racing accomplishments in any sport you’ve competed in
I don’t race (yet) but I DID ride the HHH 50 miles (2013). I am very proud that in both my age group and the overall standings I ranked solidly in the middle.
What is your first memory of riding a bicycle?
I don’t remember my first bike but I have great memories of my little brother’s banana yellow “Swing Bike”; we beat the crap out of it! The other odd bike was from college. I wanted a 10-speed to get around campus but Dad bought me a Honda “People” bike. I was mortified and refused to ride it.
Why do you ride a bicycle?
It clears my head and makes me feel free. Plus I like the challenge, and the feeling of accomplishment when I have pushed myself.
What does Bearded Women mean to you?
This team is very encouraging. I feel like I am part of a family and I have a bunch of brothers (and a very pushy sister, haha) looking out for me.
